Back in 1967, Lombardi's Packers faced the Rams with nothing on the line for Green Bay and everything needed by the Rams, who were in a race with the Colts. (Note to children: The Cots and Rams both used to be in the same division) Lombardi's team (which ended 9-4 and was probably the weakest of the four division champs) did not sit out Starr, Nitschke, Dowler, Davis, Adderley, etc., to rest them for the playoffs; instead, they fought to the end and lost on a blocked punt - and then beat the Rams two weeks later in the playoffs. THAT is how it should be done. And the Packers went on to beat the Raiders in Super Bowl II.

I think the football deitys are going to punish the Colts for this one...

Urban Meyer steps down as Florida coach.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Urban Meyer resigned Saturday as Florida’s football coach after five seasons and two national titles because of health concerns that came to light when he suffered chest pains following the SEC championship game earlier this month.

The 45-year-old Meyer will coach his final game at the Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati on New Year’s Day
